MR HAYES — To ask the Minister for Agriculture: In relation to discharging firearms within 250 meters of private property: Why do duck shooters not have to seek the permission of a property owner before discharging a firearm within 250 meters of the property owner's dwelling when a target shooter must obtain permission before discharging a firearm.
Answer:

I assume the question is with reference to Regulation 22 under the Firearms Regulations 2008, as they relate to the suppression of pest animals or target shooting on a private property by more than five people who will be shooting continuously for more than three hours.

These regulations are a matter for the Minister for Police.
