MR HAYES — To ask the Minister for Agriculture: In relation to the occupational health and safety standards requiring an application and permit process which takes into account clean up measures, toilets and requires one security agent per 100 members of the public: Will the Minister examine whether the current duck shooting occupational health and safety and clean up measures are adequate.
Answer:
Duck hunting does not represent an activity that requires an event permit. It either takes place on private land with the permission of the landowner or on public land where hunting is a permitted activity. Similar fo bushwalking, fishing and other dispersed outdoor activities, all members of the public including hunters are subject to existing laws relating to litter and whatever location-specific controls are in place.
